Chapter 2

2. Divine Identity

Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identify and purpose.”
The Family: A Proclamation to the World

“We know that gender was set in the premortal world.”
- Elder Boyd K. Packer (October 2012, How to Survive in Enemy Territory)

We are all born of a divine heritage. Our father is a King! We each need to strive to be the best we can be. Our gender is part of our divine identity. To be blunt, boys are boys and girls are girls. Boys were boys in the premortal life. Girls were girls before this life as well. Boy and girl bodies each have their own special function. That is common knowledge. To touch briefly on the subject of same-sex attraction, in Romans 1:26-27 it says, “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature. And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one towards another.” It says, “God gave them up,” this means that he abandoned them in their wickedness. It also makes mention that it is unnatural. Having said that, our father is a loving God, and wants us to be eternally happy. That is why he has given us a plan and hopes we will follow it.
