Fathers
“By divine design,
fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are
responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their
families… In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated
to help one another as equal partners.”
The Family: A Proclamation to the World
“One of the greatest things
a father can do for his children is to love their mother…A
righteous father protects his children with his time and presence in their
social, educational, and spiritual activities and responsibilities. Tender
expressions of love and affection toward children are as much the
responsibility of the father as the mother. Tell your children you love them.”

President Howard W. Hunter (November 1994, Being
a Righteous Husband and Father)
Fathers are such a huge influence in a
child’s life, even when the child is all grown up. Fathers protect, provide,
and preside. In the most ideal setting, the father would also have the
priesthood power to lead the family and to give blessings when needed. I feel
blessed to have grown up in a family with a father that was worthy and able to
provide a blessing when needed. He would gather the family for annual father’s
blessings, and he would also make sure to have individual father-child time.
Those times with my father always made me feel special and loved.
